Historic Preservation

The Greater Ridgewood Restoration Corporation has always been dedicated to preserving Ridgewood’s Historic Buildings.

In an effort to protect the historic character of these buildings, in 1983 Greater Ridgewood was instrumental in having 2,980 buildings recognized as historic and listed on the National Register of Historic Districts. In 2022, Greater Ridgewood added 440 additional buildings as part of the Fresh Pond Road-Myrtle Avenue Historic District.

In the years 2000, 2009, 2010, and 2014, many of these buildings were also designated NYC Landmark Districts for a total of 1,332.
